Comparing Teaser And Theatrical Trailers Of Captain America

Below is the teaser and theatrical trailers of Captain America.

Teaser Trailer:

Theatrical Trailer:

  • The theatrical trailer is two and a half minutes long whereas the teaser trailer is just over 30 seconds long.
  • They both have the movie title in it.
  • In the teaser trailer it plays one type of music throughout the trailer and in the theatrical trailer plays a couple of different pieces of music.
  • They both have taglines but in the theatrical trailer it has got a bit more.

Comparing Teaser And Theatrical Trailer of Transformers

Below is the teaser and theatrical trailer of Transformers Age Of Extinction.

Teaser Trailer:

Theatrical Trailer:

  • The theatrical trailer is three minutes long whereas the teaser trailer is just over 30 seconds.
  • Both have the production company logo in the beginning, in the the teaser trailer it is shown very briefly
  • There is more detailed information and narrative of the film in the theatrical trailer, so we know what the movie is about and the characters inside it whereas in the teaser trailer doesn't give us much information of the film and don't have an understanding of the story.
  • Both of the trailers end off with billings and credits as well as the release date.
  • The editing is faster in the teaser trailer, it fades out on numerous occasions whereas in the theatrical trailer the editing is a lot slower.
  • They both have taglines but it is different and there is more in the theatrical trailer.
  • Both have the name of the film on it.the theatrical trailer.
  • In the teaser trailer it gives us the 'eye candy' bits of the movie.
  • The sound effect and the music in the teaser trailer is tense and dramatic throughout, whereas in the theatrical trailer it starts off with slow, calm music which is when the characters are introduced and it starts to give the backround of the story, then the music intensifies, it becomes serious and that is when something gripping is about to happen.I have noticed there is one music throughout the teaser trailer and in the theatrical trailer there is a number of music tracks.

Comparing Teaser And Theatrical Introduction

I already looked at Posters and Magazine front covers and analysed the conventions of them, now I will be analysing two existing films with teaser trailers and conventional theatrical trailers. The two films that I chose for this task is Transformers 'Age Of Distinction' and 'Minions'.I am going to to compare them and find the similarities and differences between them and in the end of this task it will show me what I need to put in my own teaser trailer to make it look real.

Filmmaker Magazine Front Cover Analysis

The Fifth magazine front cover I will be analysing is FILMMAKER.

Filmmaker is an American which magazine covers the art, craft and business of independent film. The cover lines is Joshua Oppenheimer, Jem Cohen and Olivier Assayas etc, all of which either film director or screenwriter and are not recognisable to majority of people. As well as the films the magazine is marketing are not big blockbuster mainstream films which is differ to the magazine like Total Film and Empire. The masthead is a thick black bold print which sticks out from the light backround

American Cinematographer Magazine Front Cover Analysis

The Fourth magazine I will be analysing is AMERICAN CINEMATOGRAPHER.

American Cinematographer focuses on the art and craft of Cinematographer. It includes interviews of directors, other film makers and cinematographer to take you behind the scenes on major studio movies, independent films and popular television series. The dominant image is an A list actor, Brad Pitt who featured in the infamous ocean series. The cover lines is Roger Deakins who most people would not recognise, is an English cinematographer who is best known for his work on the films of the Coen Brothers, as well as 'No Country For Old Men which is an American Neo Western thriller suggesting that this magazine is not for mainstream movies like Empire but its more like the previous magazine Sight & Sound.

Sight And Sound Magazine Front Cover Analysis

The Third magazine I will be analysing is SIGHT & SOUND.

SIGHT & SOUND is a British magazine which is an independent film magazine and focuses on independent and British films. The Masthead doesn't really stick out, it is just plain and simple suggesting that it targets lower budget films. The dominant image is Danny Boyle, who is a  English film director  and is known for his work on films such as Shallow Grave, Slumdog Millionaire, 28 Days Later etc. Most people wont really recognise him because he is a director and people only know and follow actors and actresses. The colour theme is it is dull and does not offer much emotion which is proably because it wants to attract a more mature, intelligent audience The cover lines is Carlos Reygadas, John Boorman and Ken Loach who again are not really familiar to the pubic eye as they are all film directors, which further shows that is target audience is for older people.
